Ever shopped with your kids? Silly question, huh? I think maybe the question should be have you ever shopped without your kids? Typically I always have one of my kids with me when I shop. If you're a parent you know that sometimes they just don't have the patience and you end up trying to entertain them while also trying to stay focused on getting out of the store.
When my oldest was younger I started making his own "shopping list". When he felt like he was involved and helping me he would be distracted and we could successfully get out of the store in record time. Shown above is an example of a shopping list he would have.
I would place a few items on his list for him to keep a look out for along with the name of the item and quantity. Not only was this fun for him but it taught him numbers and word recognition. So, how do you make this awesome life saver? With just a few easy steps:
- Create a titled word document and save for future use. Example: "_____'s Shopping List"
- Use clip art or other images of grocery items you need. Save them to a folder on your computer for future use.
- Depending on your child's age, label the pictures and type in the quantity. For younger ages, skip this step.
- Print and go shopping!
Each time you make a list and save the images it will be that much faster to create another the next time because you'll have a nice collection of grocery items in that special folder.
Happy shopping!
